Yumi’s Cells is an ongoing South Korean television series that releases two episodes every Friday. The show revolves around Kim Yumi, who is just a regular and average office worker, and we see her life and her regular typical day happenings through the point of view of the cells in her brain. These cells are responsible for making her everyday life happen. The show is a lot like the Pixar movie, Inside Out. We see how the various cells like the Reason cell, love cell, sensitivity cell, and various hobby cells as well work together to make Kim Yumi’s life possible. The show employs a unique perception, and the animation is very magnificent as well. The show is very relatable in the portrayal of its daily life struggle with emotions.

For now, we have a total of eight episodes out for the second season that started on the 10th of June.

In episode 7, we see that Yumi’s writing career is struggling to take off and that she is not being able to be placed on the winning contestant’s list. Still, she remains very resilient and doesn’t give up. In episode 7, we see that she goes to Jeju Island to celebrate her first anniversary with him. She still did not win the latest competition she had applied to. She gets a call from her section chief from her previous job about a vacant seat, and she becomes happy, but it turns out he was mistaken, so she is heartbroken again.

Then she receives an important text from the literature competition’s editor telling her that they want to publish her submission as a book.

Then, later on, Babi gives her a ring as a gift for the first anniversary.

In episode 8, we see a new girl named Da Eun, who is an intern at Bbai’s office. Yumi sees her getting out of his car and starts to wonder if there is something going on between them. Her good mood is ruined by paranoia and worry. When Da Eun-Yi walks away, Bobby responds honestly, telling Yumi that she’s cute but that Yumi is the one who’s actually adorable. He does, however, give Da-Eun his jacket because she is cold. Yumi gets a sense of déjà vu when he realizes he did the same thing for her in the past.

Then we get to see the timeline of Da Eun’s work there and how she crushes on Bbai from the first day calling him HGW (the most handsome guy in the world). Then she gets to know about Yumi and gets sad and disappointed.

Later on, we get to know that the editor-in-chief who is publishing Yumi’s work is actually a college senior who had a crush on Yumi for a long time though he never confessed.

In the end, we see Babi struggling with his feelings for Da eun, which renders his entire cell village an earthquake.

In season one, we saw that Woong and Yumi were broken up; they came together with their own differences; Woong struggled with showing his genuine emotions for Yumi, and Yumi constantly used to struggle with Woong’s lack of involvement. They thought they could manage, but eventually, they fell apart.

Season two started with Yumi trying to move on from the fallen relationship with Woong. She tries her best to stop herself from calling or texting him. Eventually, she decides to move on. Then her colleague at the office, Yu Babi, confesses his feelings to her. Initially, Yumi shuts him off because she doesn’t feel much for him. Then, later on, she also accepts that she has feelings for Babi as well. They start dating in private, keeping the relationship a secret from the workers in their office.

Then Yumi quits her job and pursues her dream of becoming a writer, and Babi gets a transfer to the Jeju Island office.

Episodes 9 and 10 will be released this week on Friday. Also, you can watch this show on Viki.
