The Mallorca Files is a very light-hearted series, that has been garnering a lot of attention and has also developed a huge fan base in the past two years ever since it was released way back in 2019. It was a drama that was repeatedly enjoyed in the UK and was also being watched by tens of millions of viewers around the world. After the second season ended, the fans were worried if there is going to be another season. As per some reports, season three might be in making. Series two was cut very short due to the ongoing pandemic and only six out of a total of ten episodes were completed. So, for now, we still have four more episodes to go in season two itself.
The sixth and final episode of The Mallorca Files, set on a horse ranch in the mountains of Mallorca, ended like any other episode, with the case solved and our detective duo sharing a celebratory moment. So, Max Winter (Julian Looman) and Miranda Blake (Elen Rhys) will undoubtedly return for more?
The Mallorca Files Season 3 Release Date
So, officially there is no confirmation as to whether there will be a third season for the series. As per a spokeswoman of the show, the show has not been scheduled for any other season. However, despite the lack of any green light, the production of season 3 x has already begun.
The project is currently in the unusual situation of having four episodes written and ready to shoot as soon as possible. Season two was supposed to be ten episodes long, but due to the coronavirus outbreak, filming had to be halted just six episodes in.
The showrunner and the primary writer Dan Stefon said in an interview that they still have four amazing and terrific episodes left and he also expressed disappointment for not being able to work on them. He was also heard saying that they were about to start filming the episodes that were written by one of their new young writers, and we had planned a fantastic ending that would be high-energy and exciting. I’m hoping that if this series does well, we’ll still be able to make them.
Further, he also said that “In the meantime, the team is actively developing a season 3 of The Mallorca Files, which will continue Miranda and Max’s story, including those events the crew could not shoot at that time due too unfortunate events,” the show said in a statement. However, it is currently unknown when Season 3 of The Mallorca Files will be released. Season one debuted in late 2019, and season two is set to debut in early 2021. With COVID complicating filming plans all over the world, we might even see season three in 2022 — but that could easily change!
