Many times a lot of us get addicted to crime dramas, be it the original documentaries or the crime procedural dramas like Longmire. But while watching the dramas like Longmire, which essentially are pseudo-scientific, we get drained and fatigued. When a lab tech promises DNA results in minutes or a detective looks at a grid of lasers to determine bullet trajectory, it’s easy to roll your eyes; it gets incredibly boring.

Longmire is an American crime drama set in the modern western era itself. It first premiered on the 3rd of June, 2012, on the A&E network. It was created by John Coveny and Hunt Baldwin, together. The series is based on the novel series by Craig Johnson named Walt Longmire Mysteries series. It essentially centers on one Walt Longmire, who is a sheriff in the fictional county of Absaroka. He is also assisted by his friends and staff, as well as his daughter too. His daughter helps him in investigating major crimes that happen in his jurisdiction.

Longmire became A&E’s “highest-rated original drama series,” but the network announced in August 2014 that the series would not be renewed after the third season. It was offered to other networks by Warner Horizon Television, and Netflix picked it up beginning with season four. Later, Netflix released the sixth and the final season of Longmire on the 17th of November, 2017. Each episode ran for a duration between 42 to 71 minutes.

This law enforcement drama “Longmire” on A&E strikes many of the same chords despite taking place in the contemporary west. Absaroka County, Wyoming, a region of flat plains bordered by pine-covered mountains, still reports to its sheriff, Walt Longmire (Robert Taylor). Where his ancestors once spit tobacco, Taylor picks up trash. Despite the fact that Taylor is Australian, his watchful squint and laconic lyricism help to make him an American icon and give viewers a hero who should be equally appealing to fans of Tom Selleck’s Jesse Stone and Dennis Weaver’s “McCloud.”

According to the pilot, the show moves slowly; the camera, like the sheriff, enjoys Big Sky country when it can and resists being hurried when examining a murder scene or a witness. Fortunately, Katee Sackhoff plays Vic Moretti, one of Longmire’s deputies, to ponytailed perfection, which ought to entice the kids to come to have a look. As she tries to rouse her boss from bed and up the mountain where the trouble is building among the sheep herds and hunters, we hear her before we see her in a succession of answering machine messages because Longmire doesn’t carry a cellphone.

Even though it is a relatively slow-paced drama, who doesn’t love the deep and authentic tug of the American heartstrings caused by hoofbeats stirring up massive mulch and guys in large hats administering justice.

This show is very effective in its portrayal of a small-town police force, solving crimes with a limited budget and not a lot of gadgets. Even when he knows that his life can be made much easier with a cell phone, Longmire decides to not use “modern-day conveniences for himself. This makes the drama more and more intriguing.

It had a total of six seasons. The sixth season of Longmire brought Sheriff Walt Longmire’s story to an end. Last season, Robert Taylor as Walt Longmire went a little too far in his pursuit of Jacob Nighthorse (A Martinez). In season 6, he returned to a more balanced view of Nighthorse, even growing to like him. That’s because Malachi Strand (Graham Greene) was revealed to be the true villain.

Walt Longmire, the show’s straight arrow and all-American hero, inspires admiration. Robert Taylor portrays him with such depth and strength that you can’t help but fall in love with him. If only all-American men were as moral and good-hearted. It’s been a fantastic series to watch for the past six seasons, and I’m going to miss seeing more of it.
